This was made for a very good friend of mine for his birthday (that's actually his indigo GameCube controller in the top left photo, which I have yet to return XD)...He lent me Super Smash Bros. Brawl once and I played it like CRAZY. It's been a while since I gave it back, and when his birthday came around this year, I was stumped. Last year, I baked him some Crema de Fruta, and the year before that, I made him a Jirachi because I didn't know him too well at the time and just went off of his Facebook profile picture.
I think I had only 2 or 3 days to think of something and make it...I used this [link]
pattern for Kirby and the Mario hat, but I wanted to make MORE hats! I watched several videos of Kirby transformations and decided to make a Pikachu hat...I also wanted to make a Sonic hat and a Link hat (since I'm the one obsessed with Zelda XP), but alas, I didn't have much time- I was still working on this the day I was supposed to give this to him!
I tried to be as accurate as possible with colors and proportions, but details are hard to get right when you're in a hurry. Kirby's eyes were pretty difficult...I cut out the felt for the eyes several times, painted and repainted the highlights, and positioned the eyes on the body every which way and they're still not right. I didn't have time to fuss over them too much though...
I made up the pattern for the Pikachu hat. The ears are a bit long and aren't quite shaped the way I wanted them. Oh well.
When I was done making everything, I had an hour or less to have some last-minute fun with Kirby before placing him and his hats in a gift bag and taking off to my friend's house. So what did I do? PHOTOSHOOT! Obviously.
